The Buffalo State Pedagogical Institute will present Using Your Service Learning as Research and Scholarship on Thursday, May 21, at 9:30 a.m. in Butler Library 181B.
Have you wondered how you can connect service-learning courses to fulfill faculty requirements for scholarship? Workshop participants will collaboratively explore current theories, practices, and assessment measures of community-engaged learning and research, and identify opportunities to use service-learning teaching as scholarship and research. Topics covered will included overview of community-engaged scholarship, rationale for why to connect service-learning with scholarship, resource guides for support, examples of high-quality scholarship, and tools to document engaged scholarship for reward and promotion.
Afternoon sessions are available by appointment. To make an appointment, e-mail Lauren E. Turner, professional development assistant.
The 2015 Pedagogical Institute is sponsored by the Professional Development Center, the National Coalition Building Institute, and University College with support from the College Senate.
