Gavin Leighton, Assistant Professor, Biology

Gavin Leighton, assistant professor of biology, has published the article "Sociality and Migration Predict Hybridization across Birds" in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences 288 (March 2021). The article investigates the behavioral traits that influence the likelihood of hybridization across birds. The authors found that both the length of social bonds and the presence of migration affect the likelihood of hybridization and, consequently, the evolutionary trajectories of species.
